Gyeongdong Market

Gyeongdong Market is one of Seoul’s iconic traditional markets, located in Cheongnyangni, where tradition and modernity coexist.

It is a vibrant cultural hub offering a wide range of goods including agricultural products, medicinal herbs, and seafood, and is a favorite destination among foreign tourists.

Established in June 1960 as a market specializing in agricultural goods, it has grown into a central traditional market in Seoul, offering a variety of mountain-harvested specialties and produce at reasonable prices.

In 1985, with the completion of the Gyeongdong Building, the market expanded to become home to Korea’s largest ginseng and herbal medicine specialty zone, surpassing even Daegu Yakryeongsi in expertise and scale.
