Ryoji Ikeda Solo Exhibition

- Period: September 24, 2026 - January 18, 2027 - Venue: House of Refuse - Organizer/Sponsor: House of Refuse - Description: A solo exhibition by world-renowned media artist Ryoji Ikeda will be held at House of Refuse in Aewol, Jeju.

Ikeda is an artist who has explored the boundaries of human senses and perception by unraveling the vast data of the digital age through the language of sight and sound, using numbers, codes, light, and sound as mediums.

Ryoji Ikeda has showcased his works at leading museums and exhibition spaces around the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the High Museum of Modern Art in the United States, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan, and Amos Rex in Finland.

In 2025, he also met with Korean audiences through a solo exhibition at the National Asian Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju.

This exhibition presents new works being unveiled for the first time globally, as well as works making their Korean debut and new versions of his works all in one place.

The exhibition is designed to allow a deeper look into the relationship between data and senses, which Ryoji Ikeda has long explored, through diverse works encompassing video, sound, and installation.

In particular, the artist personally curated the exhibition space, spanning approximately 1,000 square meters, from the placement of the artworks to the viewing path, creating a unified, continuous experience.

By following his work, which transforms invisible information—such as numbers and data—into light and sound, visitors can experience the world we have come to view with familiarity through new senses.
